Mirjam Florijn
A painter of Scripture. A storyteller of the Kingdom.

Mirjam Florijn is a Dutch fine artist and illustrator whose work explores Scripture through painting, symbolism, and visual storytelling. Rooted in a deep engagement with biblical narratives, her paintings invite viewers to slow down, look closely, and encounter familiar passages with renewed wonder.
Each work begins with Scripture. Rather than illustrating a text literally, Mirjam seeks to uncover the layers of meaning, beauty, and mystery that lie beneath the surface. Through light, colour, symbolism, and carefully composed imagery, she creates visual narratives that connect ancient truths with contemporary experience.
Her artistic practice is shaped by the belief that beauty reveals truth, that stories shape the human heart, and that art can make visible something of the Kingdom of God. Wheat and thistle, lion and lamb, water and light — recurring motifs become part of a visual language that draws from centuries of biblical tradition while speaking to a modern audience.
Working across painting, illustration, photography, and mixed media, Mirjam creates works that reward slow looking and thoughtful reflection. What first appears as a quiet image often reveals deeper layers of symbolism and meaning over time.
Mirjam holds a Bachelor of Design in Illustration from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, one of the Netherlands' leading art academies. Her background in creative therapy continues to inform her sensitivity to experience, meaning, and the contemplative space in which art speaks most deeply.
Based in the Netherlands, her work is collected internationally and shared with audiences seeking beauty, reflection, and a deeper engagement with Scripture.
